Several times a year, our virtual Global Travelers Club joins together, around the world, to serve together separately. We have picked up trash, donated books, and participated in food shelf programs. In February, we are participating in a “Socks and Skivvies Challenge.”

Why socks and skivvies (underwear)?
They are the most requested and least frequently donated items at many nonprofits that provide clothing for those in need. Most of us take clean underwear and warm socks for granted, but for unhoused people, they are a deeply appreciated treasure.
Where to donate?
Most areas have a variety of non-profits that serve unhoused people and people in need. Typically, their websites have a “wish list” of items that they would love to have you donate, and usually you will find socks and underwear on the list. Underwear can be a little more challenging than plain, sturdy white socks, because of the many sizes and varieties. The website probably has suggestions of what they need most.

Two Ways to Participate
Option One

Option Two

- By February 28th, donate socks and/or underwear to the non-profit of your choice. Or make a donation to a non-profit and earmark your donation for socks and underwear.
- Take a photo and/or write a brief note of what was donated and to whom. Let’s see who can get creative and have fun with the photos!
- Submit photo/note to: Judy Huff ([email protected]) with the subject line: Socks
- By February 28, make a donation to our Global Travelers Foundation (GTF).
- Perhaps choose an amount tied to the challenge, like $1 for every pair of socks in your drawer or for every time you change your underwear in February.
- Click here for instructions on how to donate to GTF.
Join the Challenge!
Let’s all be creative and have some fun this February while we make a difference for people in need.
An important part of our club’s mission is to serve the world. This February, let’s do it together, separately, and see how many socks and skivvies we can provide.
