We are a growing, vibrant, busy club. To keep things running smoothly and develop new ideas and activities, we need the time and talent of our members. Below are several areas where you might be able to help. If any of these sound right up your alley (or even vaguely interesting), send an email to [email protected].
Efficient, well-run meetings are critically important to our virtual club. We’d like several tech savvy members to make this happen. You’ll do “tech checks” with the various speakers for a meeting, making sure their Zoom is working well, and they know the procedure for sharing slides. And during the meeting, you’ll be responsible for handling break-out rooms, ensuring the meeting is recorded, muting people who forget, and general problem-solving. Ideally, we will have several people in this role so you each have responsibility for only one meeting every month or two.
So far, our club president has been in charge of recruiting and managing speakers for our meetings. But our club president has a lot on her plate, and this speaker management role is an excellent candidate for delegation. Many Rotary clubs have someone assigned specifically to this role.
Your responsibilities would include helping to find, vet, and schedule future speakers. You’d be responsible for communicating with them and ensuring that they (and their presentation materials) are prepared for our virtual meeting format.
Last year, our club very successfully “served together, separately” — collecting trash, helping alleviate food insecurity, and promoting literacy. This year, we’d like to do at least three new challenges in our club. Last year’s coordinatoor Barb H has taken over leadership of the Trips and Services Committee, so she needs a sub-committee chair to take on this role.
You’ll need to work with the District to align our challenges with their service projects, if possible, create materials to promote each project, and track and present the results.
We’re a large and growing group with an ambitious mission. Much of the work to make our mission a reality happens in committees. And most of the decisions are made there, too. So pick one, get involved, meet new people…
