Editor’s Note: This article is directly primarily at our club members. But of course, if you are interested in our club and not yet a member, we’d love to get to know you, too. We encourage you to read this: Interested in Becoming a Member?
The Question
Have you ever had an interesting conversation with someone in a Zoom breakout room before our meeting and then promptly forgotten their name? How do you find them again after we return to the full meeting? Scroll through all the attendees? But what if they turned off their camera?
Or, are you planning a road trip and wondering whether you might connect with some of your fellow Global Travelers on the way? How do you find out who lives in Kansas or Oklahoma?
The Answer
The directory in the members portion of our website can help to answer both of these questions. We have two different views:
- Member Directory, which gives you a list of our registered members sorted by name.
- Member Directory by Geo Location, which gives you a list of our members sorted by where they live.
The Problem
No shaming or blaming here, but… A few of us have interesting and useful entries like Jelan’s on the left. Many of us have yet to update our entries, like Jim’s on the right. Others are somewhere in between.
As of this writing, I counted 16 members who have all 3 elements of their “front page” — profile picture, background picture, and short bio. That’s 16 out of 100+.
Consider this a call to action to improve that number.
The Solution
- If you haven’t already registered to access the Members section of our website, follow these instructions to get access. When we give you access, you automatically get a blank directory entry.
- Browse through the directories to get some ideas for your own entry.
- Member directory sorted by name
- Member Directory by Geo Location (scroll down a few pages to people with the search field populated)
- Now find your own entry and make it useful. Follow the instructions here.
Our club’s mission is all about “We.” Spending a little time updating our directory helps us become a “We.” Thanks!
